Groups and Assignment #1

Team-- First of all, please check your names on your blog profile and make sure they are a version of your actual name (or just your actual name). It is essential that we can identify each post and comment by author. Second, groups: These will be your groups for posting. One member of each group is responsible for writing a post in response to the assignment (a New Post, not a comment on the assignment itself). Then the rest of the group is responsible for creating and sustaining an electronic conversation in response to the post of the group. These posts should be comments on the post itself (not on the assignment). Titles for posts can be directly related to the subject or connected to your group name. You are responsible within your groups for deciding an order for writing the primary response and/or comments. Responses should be about 300-400 words. I would recommend writing in word and cutting and pasting into blogger. Group #1: Hally, Caleb, Isaac Group #2: Davi, Nick, Crispin Group #3: Clara, Emma, Esten, Calvin Third, assignment: First (and everyone should do this part): Please look carefully at the following two passages from The Republic: Book IV (434 - 445) (this brings you to the end of book 4) Book IX (571 - 592) Second (and only one person from each group should do this part): Answer the following question: What is Plato saying about self-mastery, or our power over ourselves? How does it connect to our ability to define ourselves as individuals within a structured/governed society? Please cite Plato in your response (letter and number)
